Christmas Party: What You Missed From This Prestigious Night

04 December 2017

One of the events we are most proud of at PWN Paris is our yearly Christmas Party. For this edition, Maison Baccarat accepted to receive us gladly, giving us the opportunity to welcome 150 participants - members, non-members and partners - to spend an incredible night.

Sipping a glass of great champagne by Virginie T, the guests had the chance to begin the evening with a visit of the new exhibition - “La Modernité Intemporelle” - and of the Baccarat Showroom, allowing them to have a look at the wonderful collections. Around 7.30 p.m., the event team members called for everyone to join them in the Bal Room to listen to the welcoming speech delivered by Françoise Derolez and Cécile Bernheim, our co-presidents. After having warmly thanked Baccarat for hosting the event, they introduced Marie-Odile Krebs, psychiatrist at the Saint-Anne Hospital, and Aude Ollé-Laprune, managing director of the Pierre Deniker Foundation, pleased to hand a 2,000 euros donation over to them. Indeed, part of the entrance fee was reserved for it, aiming at supporting the Foundation’s work and researches on mental health.

The party continued with the awesome voice of Marie-Amélie Serre, soprano and member of our network. If the two pieces she sang were very appreciated by the audience, we will remember the cohesion she created by encouraging everybody to accompany her when performing Hallelujah by Léonard Cohen. Then, the Corona Quatuor - composed by one violinist, a viola player, a flautist and a bass player - took place and the concert carried on. They chose to make the audience travel through space and time, playing pieces by different composers from distinct eras and countries. Once they had finished, Corinne Albert, the VP events, closed the concert and seized the opportunity to kindly remind the guests that PWN Paris is a cross-generational network.

Time to announce the winners of the gift draw arrived and to present it, Corinne asked Nicolas Houdoux, Baccarat Vice President Europe and Bruno Quenioux, famous wine expert, to meet her. Their speeches really captivated the audience. While Nicolas Houdoux introduced Baccarat, proudly telling that, created 250 years ago, it is the oldest crystal factory in the world and that the vision has always been to perpetuate Baccarat as a brand of excellence; Bruno Quenioux confided the secret of the creation of the Baccarat glass. He exposed that, not satisfied by the collection they first sold in 1995, they looked for explanations and understood that there was a relation with the wine itself. They redesigned the glass, giving it a shape of “earth and water and not anymore fire”, making possible to “learn again how to welcome wine”, so that it becomes a “southing glass which allows to do more than just taste wine”. Finally, six members had the chance to hear their name and therefore, wan a gift: two received a bottle each of Virginie T. champagne, two others a magnum of wine each from Château des Arras and the last two were given 2 boxes each of the famous Château Baccarat collection.

The night was far from being over when all participants headed for the cocktail room. Champagne, wine and delicious Sam Pepper petit-four were served while people started to network, sharing a good moment all together. They left delighted by the wonderful night they just spent in this amazing exclusive destination, assuring that this year again, the Christmas Party was a success.
